Profile

WELCOME

On behalf of the students, staff and governors, welcome to Glossopdale Community College.

We are delighted that the OfSTED inspection team who visited in January recognised Glossopdale has improved since the last inspection and confirmed the upward trend.

ABOUT US

The College has achieved its best GCSE results again in 2013 and continues to progress. This year we attained our highest exam results with 92% of students gaining 5 or more GCSEs at grade C or above, which is a 42% improvement over 5 years. Also, 98% of students left with 5 or more GCSEs and 40% of students achieved 3 or more A*/A grades. Furthermore, this year our Mathematics Faculty continued their improvement with 76% of students receiving a grade C or above - a 20% increase over 2 years.

Congratulations to all of the students and a big thank you to the staff, parents and governors for their hard work and continued support.

We are a happy and flourishing learning community with a passion for excellence. We are particularly proud of our Performing Arts status and the impact this has across the whole College and the community of the Glossop area.

OUR AIMS

We are committed to our comprehensive values. Our expectations are high because we care about our students. We believe that every young person is special, with unique talents, skills and qualities that should be recognised and nurtured. Our ambition is to build a community of successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens where all students, regardless of age, ability, or background, are engaged, challenged, inspired and supported in their learning. Our core purpose is to ensure that students of all abilities and backgrounds fly high and have high aspirations.

Glossopdale Community College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We are extremely proud of our school and believe that we provide a flourishing and exciting place of learning for the Glossop community. Please take a look round our website to find out more.

OUR SIXTH FORM EXPERIENCE

We offer a thriving and popular sixth form, offering over 300 students a wide range of academic and vocational courses with excellent provision for the Performing Arts.

Students continue to benefit from our strong pastoral support as well as our links with other schools, colleges, businesses and the Glossop community. As with the rest of the College, regular assessment and feedback gives students clear targets and allows them to take ownership of their development. We want all of our students to aim high and to have the best opportunity to pursue and achieve their ambitions and goals.

If you are a student in Year 11 who is thinking about your future and further education, please visit our student page and our sixth form curriculum page to explore your options at Glossopdale Community College.
